Empires is a Source mod that came around a while ago it's a mixed fps and rts I'm kinda lazy so I'm just gonna copy and paste the description given by [GPA]the_kid and there should be a link in this quote to go to the empires website. It's really a fun game once you figure it out there are about 3 of us from GPA that play it on a regular basis and I think the kid is starting to host his own server. If your interested look us up on steam
Post subject: Empires
So did any of you actually look at this last time I suggested it? I think a GPA squad would work pretty well, we mostly know each others strengths and weaknesses, who likes to play what etc. With patch 2.21, there are a whole bunch of balance fixes, and the vehicle combat is still second to none, very polished.
For those of you that know NOTHING about Empires, here's a summary:
Up to 20 people on a team, up to 26 squads A-Z, mostly for choice (I prefer Hotel Squad) and many players come to be known by which squad they like to play in. One player is the commander, who sees the battlefield similar to an RTS, but relies on the soldiers to follow his commands (they actually do, which is nice), anything from building to shooting (well, no, pretty much those two, but there are subtleties). The commander has a tech tree which he can research anything on it, for a certain amount of resource. You get resource by capturing points, which are spread around the map, similar to most RTS games. The tech ranges from various armor, engines and weapons which all have different stats and bonuses (EG Bio MG and missile deal damage over time and damage x2 to plain and regenerative armor). Beat the enemy by getting in their base and killing all their doodz. Prevent the enemy from doing the same to you. You can also win by destroying the opposing teams CV, Command Vehicle, which the commander actually can drive around and get out of, although that would allow someone from your team to get in and assume the role of commander.
So, anyone willing to give it a try? You can download the files from
